NEW OS (Single layer BIURS)




System anti-corrosion coating BIURS SL is a two-component system that provides protection against corrosion of steel pipes with cathodic protection. Its high abrasion resistance combined with excellent adhesion and water resistance make it the best choice for protection of pipes.


Operating temperatures piping system with BIURS SL applied is up to 65 ° C (150 ° F) for underground laying and to 100 ° C (212 ° F) in air. BIURS SL coating can be applied in complex conditions requiring a short time for the repair and reopening of the pipeline.

The main stages of the application

1. Remove oil, grease and loose deposits.

2. Clean the surface by sand blasting to  extent (almost white metal) (according to NACE) or SA 2.5 (according to ISO 8501)

3. Apply BIURS SL desired thickness.

4. Leave to cure

5. Visually or electrically check for the presence of coating passes \ insufficient thickness.

6. Eliminate the disadvantages.



7. Surface Preparation


8. The steel surface must be clean and free from dirt, oil and other contaminants prior to abrasive blasting. Sagging, rough welds, or other defects must be ground before abrasive blasting. Abrasive blasting is carried out to almost white metal shot using pure grit to extent - almost white metal 
(by NACE) or SA 2.5 (according to ISO 8501).



9. During the blast cleaning and till the end of coating application the temperature of steel surface should be 30C / 370F above the dew point.


10. Application Procedure

11. BIURS SL is applied to the cleaned surface of the steel using equipment with a plural componentfeeding. The ratio of the pump should be three parts A (base) to 1 part B (hardener).

12. Base BIURS SL (Part A), should be preheated to a temperature of at least 350C / 950F with constant stirring. It is recommended to use a transfer pump with liquid-to-air ratio not less than 10: 1, for supplying of the component to the pumps for the main equipment. Built-in heaters should be used to warm up the base (Part A) to 600C / 1400F temperature of the substrate.

13. BIURS SL Hardener (Part B) to be supplied with a transfer pump with liquid-to-air ratio not less than not less than 5: 1 and a minimum temperature of 150C / 600F. Stirring is not required unless a hardener not been heated to achieve the desired temperature.

14. The hoses off application equipment must be heated and heat-insulated to maintain the temperature of the material.

Hose for base (part A) has to have internal diameter of at least 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) and withstands the operating pressure of 5000 psi (345 bar).

Hose for hardener (Part B) has to have internal diameter of at least 1/4 inch (6.35 mm) and withstandsthe operating pressure of 6000 psi (414 bar). The maximum length of hose - 50 meters (55 yards)

15. The mixing unit must have shut-off valve installed in front of the unit and device for flushing by asolvent that will allow to wash off material residues.

16. The leash should have internal diameter of at least 3/16 inch (4.8 mm) and be not more than 5 m (5.5 yards) in length. Sprayer (pistol) must be a high-pressure airless sprayer with a minimum pressure rating of 3000 psi (207 bar). Nozzle size should be less than 0.027 inches (0.69 mm) and a maximum of 0.040 inches. (1.02 mm)



Repair of the coating must be performed by made one of 2 ways:

Repair small areas - areas of damage of the coating up to 1000 cm2 . Clean defective area using angle grinders or similar abrasive tools, as well as adjacent area to the defect to achieve a smooth transition to intact coating. Then the whole area can be covered with a brush or roller using a BIURS SL repair material.


Repair of large areas  for area larger than 1000 cm2, it is recommended to prepare the surface by the way described above and then apply conventional manner.
